This is a great example of why ultrasound is the single most important part of vein treatment. The mapping above is from a patient with an unknown history of DVT. The ultrasound allowed the physician to conclude that the left GSV was the primary outflow tract for that leg. Ablating this vein could have had a detrimental outcome for the patient.
